Welcome to The Andy Kaufman Award official website!
Over the past 25 years, I’ve often heard the phrase ‘There
will never be another Andy Kaufman.’ While that is certainly true, Andy’s
one-of-a-kind spirit remains alive today and is exemplified by the
winners of The Andy Kaufman Award honoring his legacy. That was the vision of
Andy’s father Stanley when he created the award, and that is the vision that
this website shares with you.
As a
college friend of Andy, I hold a personal perspective of the man who went on to
become a comic legend. Even then, Andy performed his unique brand of comedy
anywhere and everywhere he could find an audience, even a small one. I had the
distinct honor to be the first person to hire Andy to perform live at our
college coffee house. He blew the audience away that night by performing his
play “God” and graciously thanked me for paying him five dollars. Andy never
saw his stardom coming – he just did what he did best.
If you
